Natural Grocers and Dream House Game

Yesterday I spent the entire afternoon with my cousin Phoebe and we had a great day! I was craving a smoothie from Starbucks, so we headed there first. Their Vivanno Chocolate smoothie has an entire banana, protein powder, milk, and a a little chocolate syrup in there. Not too unhealthy!

IMG_6086After enjoying our drinks we headed to Natural Grocers so I could pick up a few things. Phoebe has been telling me to go there for ages, and I fell in love one step inside the door. They have tons of organic produce, as well as a plethora of fun treats that fit any dietary restriction you could imagine.

IMG_4063Not to mention great prices and tons of sale items! I scored an organic lamb curry meal for only 2 bucks! I also picked up a gluten free ginger cookie to enjoy for breakfast this morning.

IMG_4069It was soooooo delectable. I microwaved it for 30 seconds and it tasted like a homemade cookie fresh out of the oven. Best breakfast ever!!! Well, maybe not ever, but it was a fun treat. And only $1.50! I’m definitely planning to do all my grocery shopping at Natural Grocers from now on.

Once we were done obsessing over food (haha) we headed back to Phoebe’s house for a while to catch up on some Kardashian episodes. It’s both our guilty pleasure…I know, I know. Dinner was a classic favorite of mine, Mackenzie River!

IMG_4068We split a gluten free Cottonwood pizza, which has chicken, garlic, basil, mushrooms, and tomatoes. A small is the perfect size for two people and it tasted like heaven.

IMG_4067We parted ways around 10pm when I needed to do some homework and go to bed! This morning I woke up at 6:30 so I could get out for a walk before the heat of the day made it impossible. When I walk I like to play a game, I try to find a house that’s as close as possible to my dream house.

I’ve always been in love with southern plantation homes.

5-quintessential-little-rock-homesThose big white columns and huge lawns…I have never seen a style of house I loved more!! This morning’s winner of closest match was:

IMG_4070Cute house, right?! I could easily make that work!

Do you have a type of dream house? Is it modern or classic?

What’s your favorite grocery store chain?

Day of the Avocado

Yesterday when I was at HEB with my mom I picked up a huge ripe avocado so that I could eat it today! I love avocado soooo much. It’s so versatile, creamy, delicious, and great for you! MUFAs baby!!

After a breakfast of raisin bran crunch and a banana, I packed up my lunch that consisted of a guacamole and caramelized onion sandwich and an apple.

photo-115My day has consisted of a 2 hour biology review, 3 hours of chem studying, and an hour of chemistry office hours. My friends and I were on the third floor of the student activities center which I didn’t even know existed! You should have seen the line at Starbucks during Frappucino happy hour. Crazy. I’ll have to take advantage of that one of these days before the deal is over!

photo-116I came home dead tired and ready for my Amy’s organic chili topped with the rest of my avocado. It looks a little brown but it was every bit as delicious.

photo-117Now I am going to take a nap and maybe wake up and study more! We shall see!

Do you like avocado?

TGIFail and Super Starbucks Man

Yesterday morning threatened to doom my whole day into another one of utter lameness. Luckily, it did not, but I was very confused. I was SO PUMPED ABOUT IT BEING FRIDAY. I started getting ready for my Friday schedule, thinking about the weekend, and looking forward to sleeping in. I even texted my dad to share the joy.

photo-65Major disbelief and sadness. It seriously took me ten minutes of staring at my iPad schedule to figure out WTF I was supposed to be doing. I was still irritated over my stupid bio test (after realizing how many trick questions I stupidly missed) and now I was all packed up for the wrong day. Luckily I made it to the gym before anyone woke up and I had to be publicly grumpy, something I hate when people do. The gym made me feel MUCH better.

tumblr_mbys7sG2mr1ru1wbho1_500Amen sista. Isn’t it crazy how a workout burns crazy amounts of stress? That’s why I love it. That’s why it was so damn hard on me when I couldn’t workout for months and months and people were thinking, be glad! Nope, not glad. I love it.

Then I studied chem, went to class, went to work, and after work ended up at Starbucks for a mini scone and some biology. The barista was SO NICE. He overheard me talking on the phone and when I came up to the counter to order he told me I spoke very eloquently and wondered if I was a writer. I told him I had a blog and was an English major and we proceeded to have a great conversation about writing. Then he told me I had a super-classy name and a disposition to match.

tumblr_mjq7od2xwK1ql5yr7o1_400We’re getting married on the third of July. haha! Not really, but I love random encounters with strangers like that. It made the rest of my night!

Once everything was packed up for today (the real Friday) I went to bed feeling pretty great. I’d gotten everything I needed done and hadn’t let my bad attitude last long at all.

Just always remember this:

Workout

I did a 45 minute bike interval workout followed by 45 minutes of chest, shoulders, abs, and stretching. It was an intense one!!

Have you ever had a pleasant encounter with a stranger?

Song turning points

Yesterday was such a fun Saturday! I woke up right at 8 am. Lately I don’t even need to set an alarm, I guess 8 is just the time my body has chosen to get started on the day. I got ready quickly and headed to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for a chicken marinade I was making.

After cooking up a storm, I headed to lunch with my aunt Susie at “The Suki Cafe”. They serve Thai food and sushi and never disappoint!

california_roll-20335217With a full belly, I drove around completing some little errands like returning the movie we watched last night and grabbing an Americano from Starbucks. The holiday cups are so festive! I need to have my annual Christmas drink, but I think I’ll wait until it gets a little cooler outside.

photo-18Driving home, sipping my hot coffee, Miranda Lambert’s song “Over You” came on the radio. I had a flashback to the first time I heard the lyric “It really sinks in, you know, when I see it in stone.”

tumblr_lt56xjyfbO1qdz3dz“What?!? He’s dead?!? Here I was thinking he was a big jerk!! WAAAA!!” Was basically what went flying through my mind. There are quite a few songs that do that, actually, have a big twist. It’s usually very funny or very sad. Brad Paisly’s “I’m going to miss her” song cracked me up the first time I heard it.

I can only think of country songs for some reason but I know there are others!

What’s your favorite “twist” song? Did it make you laugh or cry?
