Weekend at the lake round 2

My fourth of July weekend was incredible! Friday morning I picked up my friend Emily and drove to my friends’ the Bragets’ cabin up in Seeley. We arrived around 11am and almost immediately began to pack up all of our stuff so we could head to the lake! So exciting!!

We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the shore, reading, eating snacks, and some of us jet skied (not me). It was a blast! That night we all crashed pretty early and awoke for another day on the lake. But first, breakfast by the fire.

IMG_3965On Friday we went to Holland Lake, but Saturday we decided to actually go to Seeley since we had an early start and would be able to get a good spot on the beach. And we sure did! We were right by the water in a big grassy area. I didn’t swim but it was wonderful to be with my best friends and I got some reading in. Can’t ask for anything better! That afternoon our friends Ben, Mike, and Craig picked us up on their boat and we cruised around for a few hours before heading back to the cabin to eat and rally our energy. The boys came back over around 8 and we had a blast playing board games and hanging out until late into the evening.

I’ve missed being around these guys so much!! Christina and Danielle are two of my very best friends and its wonderful being with people who you’re so comfortable with. This whole year I’ve made tons of new friends, which is wonderful, but old friendships are really something. I didn’t want the weekend to end!

But Sunday afternoon it was back to reality! I rolled into Missoula around 3 and decided to catch a movie since I wasn’t really sure what to do with my afternoon. I picked World War Z which was a bad choice.

There were a lot of people in zombie make up chopping their teeth like chipmunks and very little dialogue. If that’s your thing, you’ll love it!! Once the movie was over I grabbed a sandwich at Jimmy John’s and called it a night. Today I worked from 8 to 6 and now laundry is calling my name! Woot woot. Have a good one! 😀

What did you do fourth of July weekend?

On The Road Phone Pics

We stopped and had dinner at a fun Mexican grille in Amarillo that had live music! This morning we hit the road early and stopped in Lamar Colorado for lunch and to explore. Right now we are heading to Sheridan. Four hours to go….ttyl!!!

Lazy Thursday

I woke up to some great news yesterday. My chem teacher grades our tests SUPER fast and guess what I got? A 96. Didn’t even know that was possible for me.

tumblr_m5xo9h5X3E1qgfdhto1_500Now I just need and A on the next test and on the final! I can do it! So after that victory, I decided to basically take the day off. My history professor cancelled my 2 hour lecture because he’s in Nicaragua so I spent the entire day with my mom and Halley.

basketballIMG_3122Mom finally found a chair that fits her teeny self! It’s so cute. I also got two new summer outfits (just shorts and t shirts) but I love them because they’re SO soft and fit perfectly.

We ate dinner at Elevation Burger, saw the new house, and went to bed. Today it’s back to class and studying for me, but I’ll get to join my sister for dinner on her last night here at least!

On Wednesday I did a nike training workout, but totally skipped out yesterday. Back on track in every aspect today.

Wonderful Little Vacation

Yesterday was a great day spent in Missoula! I enjoyed a lovely oatmeal breakfast with Halley and my mom before heading out to run some errands! My mom, grandma, and I began by checking out one of Missoula’s coolest stores, Rockin’ Rudy’s.

They have such an eclectic collection of amazing trinkets and gifts, it was all I could do not to buy something! Then we stopped by Great Harvest to pick up a lunch bag for Halley, and I had the most delicious sample of bread EVER.

Good gosh I love Great Harvest. Austin needs to open a few pronto!! Once we dropped off Halley’s lunch my mom, grandma, and I headed to the Tamarack for lunch. It’s an incredible restaurant with a very varied menu that always tastes delicious.

I had a hamburger with brie and bacon. I ate a little less than half of it and almost all of my side salad. It was sooo good. Ya’ll know how I feel about brie!! Once our stomachs were full, I finally got my new tennis shoes! I found the exact ones I needed for 99 bucks, fifty dollars cheaper than usual! Holla!! And I LOVE the colors.

Then we ventured over to costco where it was all I could do not to pack a full suitcase of food and leave all my clothes behind. I did get a screaming deal on organic grade A maple syrup though. Usually it’s 22 dollars a bottle, but I found it for 13! Holla! I think I am going to get a costco membership when I get back to Austin. They have incredible deals.

After spending the afternoon at a coffee shop with Halley and my mom, we enjoyed an incredible dinner at my aunt Caroline’s house and then headed to ZUMBA!!!

I made it through about 40 minutes of the class before my back started to tighten up a little. I didn’t want to take any chances so I left a few minutes early and finished up my workout on the bike! I was so happy to be able to make it that long, it felt incredible. I’m really making progress! We also ran into one of our oldest friends, Eliza.

She’s such a sweetheart! I haven’t seen her in years but our families used to spend a lot of time together and it was like I’ve known her forever. Don’t you love how no matter how much time passes, so many friendships still maintain themselves?? It truly is incredible.

After Zumba I spent some more time with my family before heading to bed and sleeping for over ten hours. Ahhh sleep, how I love you. I woke up at 10 am this morning and got ready to meet my aunt, grandma, cousin, and mom at the Good Food Store for breakfast/lunch.

I savored two cups of coffee and a vegetarian bagel sandwich. I just got home a little bit ago and am meeting up with Christina and Danielle tonight! I can’t wait!

What do you usually do on family vacations?

There’s No Place Like…

HOME. At last. But first, a recap of a book you must read. It made my travels go so much faster being able to tear through such a thrilling book as this one:

“Dr. Marcel Petiot was, by day, a handsome and charming physician with remarkable charisma. By night, he preyed upon the most vulnerable people of society with unspeakable deviousness. It was in the basement of his townhouse that the French police discovered a macabre spectacle of skulls, bones, and dismembered body parts. The doctor took flight and thus began an eight month manhunt into a twilight world of Gestapo, gangsters, Resistance fighters, pimps, prostitutes, traitors, and other shadowy figures of the Parisian underworld.

Sitting on a dark plane reading a TRUE story about a  horiffic killer makes for a little bit of creepiness, but this book teaches you so much about Nazi-occupied Paris but reads like a crime thriller. I love it.

I got home at about 9:30 last night and it feels amazing. There’s just nothing like hugging your mom for the first time in months or coming home to your clean, bright, beautiful house. Waking up to my puppy snuggling me and eating breakfast in my cheery kitchen was a welcome experience.

After a day of sitting, my body is needing a trip to the gym pronto! Here I go!

What is your favorite part about coming home?

Homeward Bound

I’m sitting in the Salt Lake City airport on the way home! I was starting to fear the trip wouldn’t happen. My flight yesterday at 2pm was cancelled, then my flight at 8am this morning was cancelled, and my dad ended up having to drive me to San Antonio so I could catch my flight there!!

Phew. Seems like every time I fly something goes wrong, but this made me nervous! I didn’t realize how much I missed my mom and puppy until I was going to get to see them super soon, and I would have been pretty bummed had my flight been cancelled.

Although, it isn’t all bad news, because my dad and I had a great day yesterday. We usually only see each other for about the length of a meal because we are both so busy, but yesterday we went on a bunch of errands, tried a new restaurant, and finished up with an AMAZING meal at Juan and Margo’s house. I was in awe.

We had a CRAZY thunderstorm last night and it kept me awake most of the evening, but I actually really liked listening to it. Then my dad picked me up this morning and we headed to Kerbey Lane to split pancakes and an omelette. Chicken verde omelette and pumpkin cinnamon roll pancakes. AMAZING! And splitting is a must.

4 more hours until I’m in Montana! Whoop whoop!

What’s great about Austin and UT

1. You don’t have to dress up or look good for class. At all. The uniform here is t shirt, yoga pants or running shorts, and tennis shoes. I spend ten minutes a day getting ready and I can just wear my workout clothes so a stop by the gym after classes is easy. Holla!

workout2. The restaurants. Oh my lanta. Within walking distance from me are more options than I’ve ever had in my whole life. Thai, German, Indian…but I just keep going back for the Tex Mex. The Hula Hut is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the lake where you can get fresh tortillas, delicious ingredients, and enough food to eat for three days.

102_18303. All the dogs. I am such a creeper. I’m always the one to say “OMG can I pet your dog?!?!” I just love them. I miss Alice soooooo much!!!!

IMG_08324. The fact that my dad is here!!!!!!! Yeah that’s right! My family is moving to Austin. Oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah. I was so thrilled when they told me. My dad arrived last week and on Saturday we went to lunch and I showed him campus. My mom won’t be here for another couple months or so, but the fact that I’ll get to see them whenever I want as opposed to just breaks is awesome. I know we’ll all be super busy, but still 40 minutes away is much better than 30 hours when a girl needs a hug from her mom and dad.

IMG_0102See that snow? Yeah, we don’t have that here. 😀 tehe!

What’s something new and exciting happening in your life??
